I'm back again after 5 days of not blogging! Anyway, i'm havving mid years so it wouldn't be too convenient for me to blog everyday.. But here am i blogging on a fine saturday morning where there wouldn't be school today, tomorrow and the the day after. Yeah..

Chinese Paper.. Paper one was ok lah, i picked a compo that's gotta do with the stress and the pressure that school children face. Altough i did't really have much to write, i guess i'll be able to pass it. Paper 2 was more shaky, i dun really know if i would really pass so that worries me. Paper 3 oral and listening compre, i heard frm my chinese teacher that the whole class didn't really do too well for the listening comprehension. She also secretly announced the oral results in which she wasn't supposed to release yet. I got 26/30.. Quite amazing as i was stuttering my way thru it. Didin't noe how to say what i wanted in chinese.

This week i also have been studying for the papers. Most of the time with friends, either with my classmates or with my band batch members. It's good to study together if everyone is studying the same thing and we're moving together..

I've made several enquires to accent music with regards to certain ligatures. Looking foward to buying one after the mid years after testing them out..

Hopefully i'll get thru this mid year with good results, den i can work on my prelims and o's with a rested mind.. Good luck to all those out there who will be taking their papers too!

First day of mid year exams..

7.15: school started, school bag consisted of scores and pencil case.

Went up to the hall, english paper 1. I picked a philosopical essay (one word). Freedom. Words just came out of my pen.. good thing it did. At first when i was writing the opening, i thought that i was going to get stuck halfway. Fan blowing directly at me. Writing script flew far far away across two rows when i was turning to the other side to write.. Hope that i got all the points covered for the letter writing. Had to collect used paper from my class.

10 mins break....

go toilet, had too much green tea..

Back for paper 2.. i don't really like this section as u have to really think abt the questions and i don't really score well in this area. Managed to finish everything including the summary 45 mins before the time was up.. this always happens to me so i kinda got used to it. Drew some crappy hand with words to kill time. Dozed off for ten minutes. Paper was finally over. Had to help my chinese teacher collect the question papers.

50 mins break.. Paper 3 follows..

Had a hard time locating the classroom i was alocated to, 2N2. Finally found it.. settled down altough it was kinda stuffy. Teacher came, oral exam started. We had to put our hps and bags outside as it was how the o's would be like. So to kill time again, me, don, damian and darren played a few games where you had to guess the pattern. I'm getting good at this kinda games.. Haha, it was my turn faster than i thought. Little nervous as usual. The oral was abt famly and all that kinda stuff. Lucky that it was not some strange topic or picture unlike the 4N students who got a picture of a indian fortune teller. Met some band members after i finished. Most of the 4N band members didn't know it was an indian fortune teller. But i guess if u proved ur point by supporting it, the examiner would give u the marks. Took a cab with the panda, josiah and don. ALighted at bedok where i took a bus home.

Chinese paper 2 and 3 tomorrow. I'm sure some people will forget to bring their chinese dictionary. Good luck to them..

Haha.. Today was a very fun day.. Here's why..

Started of with cell this morning. Supposed to meet at 12 but usual abit later. Met at macs den proceeded upstairs (parkway builders). Had to leave early cos i was going to have ensemble practice at nafa. The lift took very long to arrive which caused a jam. They should install more lifts there.

Took a cab to nafa. For those who didn't know. Nafa has three buildings. Namely the school of visual arts, the school of performing arts and the school of fashion. The bad thing is that they are not in the same area but seperated along a road with many junctions. So after wasting lots of time walking around, i reached the building and went up. I was the last to arrive. Ivan said that we needed to practice somewhere else as there were other people using the room and we aren't students of Nafa so we didn't have the privilage of using their room. Went to the staircase to practice. AGAIN!!! Anyway, there was enough space where it could fit three people and three stands. Chairs too mind you. It was rather hot and so it was hard to concentrate. Malcolm and i kept making mistakes. We had some problem with dynamics. I guess i'm not too adapted to the crystal mouthpiece yet. It was a good practice overall. Its nice to play with players who are really into music. Regardless of their schools. Also, there was a newspaper report on a body found floating at the canal outside my school. Freaky..

After it ended, me and ivan took a cab (AGAIN!!!) to city hall to meet nicholas and jeremy. So we met them at 3.28. As we were abt to be late in meeting the rest of them. I walked very quickly thru citylink mall. As usual. I never fail to walk fast in that area becos i always seem to be in a rush there. So yup, walked to the convention centre entrance as agreed. Didn't see them there. So maybe they went to the place liao. Walking up escalator, called corne. Saw him when we were at the end of it. Opened my can of BU SHUANG and gobbled it as i thought they were going in soon. But i was wrong. They walk here sit there talk here walk there until me and ivan went to the entrance of the place. It was smaller than i expected it to be. I thought it was the convention hall. Like those where my church once had service. It was like a conference room lah. A big one. So we settled down. Waiting for it to start.

Throughout the whole thing, the emcee was quite lame and we were making very rude remarks... haha. Waited patiently for the duo to perform. Not too bad, still sounding too classical though. Not bad liao. Had this interval before they announced the results. Ivan. nicholas and jeremy had already left before that. Guess they couldn't stand it and they had other plans. So we made use of time and i let those who wanted to try my mouthpiece try lah. With string as the ligature, supposedly to make ur high notes sound less shrill. Got the expected feedback. High resistance.. haha.. Got the results. The duo got 100 bucks voucher. haha. not bad lah.. they had nothing to lose. proceeded to macs.

macs... gossiping and lots of chatting happening as we were there. Haha, nice to go out with people who Talk.. Lots of crap... Interesting crap. Wanted to zap scores for xinling and gary but couldn't find a place that does there on our way to the mrt. Sorry gary.. to keep u waiting so long..

Borrowed corne's cam at the mrt station and tool some bo liao pics... haha, alighted at eunos. For information abt what happened after i left, please refer to corne's meilan's or gary's blog.. for now lah.. i'm sure the rest would update soon.

Had pizza at home.. wow.. second round.. feeling stuffed now.. Growing fatter.. haha... Anyway, pics of the day.. enjoy.

Helo people, i'm felt a little perky today because of the stairway.. I'll explain along the way.

10.45: Made my way towards ps area to meet ivan, took bus no. 65. Expected it to reach ps in half an hour.. i was really wrong... Supposed to meet at 11.15 but met ard 11.30. Sorry ivan. Hope u dun mind my bad estimation of time..

Ivan told me abt his wierd experiences at the bus stop while waiting for him.. Three in all, ask him if you're curious.. Anyway, we made our way to paradiz building near ps where mast music was located. Our old alumni, sharizan works there so he offered to let ivan try out the vandoren mouthpieces and other stuff. That explains why we went there with our clarinets.

Ivan tried the mouthpieces and a liagture, i was looking around the scores and cds. Spent quite some time there. Before we left, sharizan passed a few clarinet ensemble scores to ivan. Went to the nearby long john silvers for lunch. The people there serving us always never fail to confuse us with their words, either we don't understand them or we can't hear them properly. Haha, i guess i won't be at long john silver for quite some time now.. haha.

Took 36 to parkway as ivan was going there to meet jeremy and choon kiat. I decided to tag along since i had nothing to do for the rest of the day. We played warcraft. I lost as usual. haha, i mean.. its the pros against the newb. Anyway, what's important is that we have fun and fun we did have. Before and after going into the lan shop, ivan and i were playing our clarinets at secluded staircases that made our tone sound very nice. So that was what made me perky. Headed home after that and i'm still playing on my clarinet.. I hope mr glosz would approve of me using the crystal mouthpiece in the band.

First ensemble practice tomorrow at nafa. hope it goes well. Good luck to xingwen and xinling on the yamaha competition finals at suntec tomorrow!

Didn't have the mood to blog yesterday altough i took some time to upload the pictures.. So here's for yesterday and today..

As some of you will know, i went to buy my crystal mouthpiece yesterday at accent music. It was all the way at Jurong so the fastest way there was by mrt.. Together with don, nicholas soh and xinling, we took an mrt to the other side of singapore and took a bus subsequently.. The mrt ride was rather short and we thought that we were on time. But it turned out that the bus ride was extreamly long, abt 1hr. As i said before, good things require people to go out of the way for them..

Reached the shop, empty without customers as usual, had a look around. I asked the salesperson abt the mouthpiece when she approached. To m horror, she told me that they only sold crystal mouthpieces for alto saxes.. 2 hours of travelling and not getting anything?! Luckily, she checked with her colleague to find out that they sell such mouthpieces for clarinets too. Bought it, continued looking arounds not realising the time that had passed so quickly.

We left, went to the bus stop, waited for a bus. When it came, we expected someone to flag it but nobody did. We missed the bus so we decided to take a cab. After waiting very long as most of the cabs were changing shifts in the area, we went to orchard, my place, don's place and den xinling's place. Long long trip and i heard that the ending fare was abt 20 bucks.. Sorry to don and xinling. I learnt something, i shouldn't drag people who are supposed to be home along with me to such distant places.. Sorry..

When i reached home, the most natural thing for me to do was to try and break in (season) the mouthpiece. It started out with alot of resistance but slowly got better as i got used to it.

I brought it to school today as ivan wanted to try it. Throughout the day, i was paranoid as i kept thinking that the mouthpiece was abt to break as it is very very fragile. It sounds good on everyone who tried it.. at least i didn't spend so much and go so far for nothing.. Thank God.
