Haha.. i'm back again as the last day of the week where my last post was.. Nvm if u dun get it.. its a good feeling to be back again after being deprived of blogging for one week.. Why deprived u may ask, its because my connection the internet has been failing me alot lately, hope it doesen't happen again... Anyway, its 2 days to the o' level mother tongue papers and i should not be here.. Good luck to all those mugging really hard so that they would clear it the first time round. Remain calm yeah, its easier to remeber things... Went for the SAF Central Band concert yesterday with guest conductor James Barnes. He's no stranger to the band scene in Singapore as many of us play his pieces.. Alvamar Overture, Fanstasy Variations, Lonely Beach, and many more.. His works were played by renowned wind orchestras such as the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra who had published 3 cds of his works... He was older than i had expected him to be.. Well, must be all the conducting... The highlight of the night was the premier performance of the piece he had composed; Festive Music For Singapore.. Very nice piece. If u were expecting the piece to be filled with the usual folk songs of olden Singapore, then u are worong, it does not contain a single tune of any folk, it describes Singapore's past and present. Go hear it if u have a chance, u wouldn't be disappointed. Before the concert, i was looking forward to the performance of the piece "Fantasy Variations". For those who didn't noe, its a piece where James Barnes composed twenty variations on a theme by the famous violinist; Niccolo Paganni.. Can see that the band operates on a rather professional basis. There are some very good individuals.. Not bad spending my time that can be used to study chinese to go for the concert.. Worth it. Didn't go out at all today, tomorrow i'll be going to church in the morning and then to the bookstore to buy pens for monday.. Haha, i know, a little kiasu right? But i dun have any good pens with me now.. Heard that the band wasn't functioning very well without the sec 4s. I hope i can settle everything when i get back and get thm on the right track. All the sec4s that will be staying for 2006, i urge u to do something when u see something wrong, tell the leaders, den if that dosen't work, take matters into ur own hands. Dun let the band deprove right before your eyes. I know its hard when most of ur batch mates are gone and its not the same when u go for band anymore, but find the strength to carry on. The Band is more than a social group. Its where childern become adults. Its where u have brothers u never did. So keep the fire burning, support the band whenever u can. May the legacy live on. That's all i guess. Thanks for reading.. Kenneth blogged at 10:08 PM. Sunday, May 15, 2005
As promised, here's today's post.. As said in yesterday's post, i went for the clarinet ensemble practice today. Unlike the one frm the previous practice, the ensemble only consisted of three people, namely malcolm, ivan and myself. This time, there was three clarinetists frm the bradell heights symphony which are two japanese ladies and one malay guy who was the principal player in the orchestra. Sharizan of course and one German clarinetist that was a PR in Singapore who was actually using a German clarient. For those who didn't know, the German clarinet does not follow the Bohem-system in which the keys have been changed to make keywork and fingering simpler. Certainly was an eye-opener. Anyway, we sight read a feel pieces, kinda bad but was better than i expected myself to be. Hopefully future practices would be better. Went to zion for and hour den went to eat ban mian downstairs. Went home, continued playing warcraft, ate dinner, blogging, talking to people who request for practice to stand down for sec 4s. But seriously, if u had planned ur time properly den this kinda thing wouldn't happen. Many of our past band members can be testimonies of such achievement, its not that if ur devoted to band that ur results must suffer. Furthermore, its just for two more months. U telling me that u will use 100% of the time u're supposed to spend in band on studying? If u can look me in the eye and say that, go ahead. But to those who can't, dun use band as an excuse not to study. Use band as a reason to study, because the band has taught u not only music but also lifeskills that u can apply to every aspect of ur life. If u think its unfair, tell u something, u're not the only one. Why do some people not complain at all? U think its because that they dun care? well, u're wrong... People do care and band is not something that u can just chuck aside once u have something better to do. That's all i have to say... Hope that u guys would think abt it. Kenneth blogged at 10:02 PM. i'm back!! after two weeks of mid years exams i'm finally back here blogging all over again. Yup, didn't really have the mood and time to blog during the exam period so sorry to those loyal 'fans' who kept checking my blog for any new posts... but finally here's one, and dun worry, i'll be blogging much more often now.. Anyway, the exams have been rather fine with exceptions of a few papers.. at least my studying finally paid of a little, now i'm in a state of anticipation for the results maybe kinda anxious too but not my will but ur's be done, whatever will be will be.. Band had just resumed today.. embousure tired brcause i'm not used to practicising for long hours after the examination break. Nothing much to say.. Tomorrow there's clarinet ensemble practice, dunno whether to look foward to it or not cos i noe that there are players that are much better than me there. i mean really many times better than me.. but who cares.. haha I think this mid year has caused me and reminded me again that the effort u put into ur studying really reflects on ur results and ur performance during the examination.. so those ppl still kinda wasting time, procrastinating over studying, a word of advice, time is precious, if u think that God would definitely help u, think again, God helps ppl who help themselves, less towards the religious side, dun let ur a bright future in front of u slip right thru ur fingers.. do ur best and one day u will look back and be proud of what u've done, that u've given it ur best shot, that life is is worth living for... I noe that i'm not the best person to say this kinda stuff, but really, i hope that no one would regret this crucial time in their lives.. Its raining cats and dogs now outside my house... Just yesterday, i went out with some of my batch members frm band to catch Coach Carter, quite inspiring, haha, makes u reflect, anyway, to those out there who are able to, go catch it, its a show worth watching.. Haven't be going out much with other people besides my band ppl, hopefully i would be able to lah. dun worry guys and gals, u ppl are still thought of k? haha, finally going out with xinling on wed or thurs, its been almost impossible since we're surrounded in the midst of exams. That's all for today, tune in again tomorrow! See ya! Kenneth blogged at 10:39 PM. Friday, May 06, 2005
Back again after one week of exams.. not keeping my hopes too high altough i studied quite a bit.. Wishing for the best.. Today after my history paper, we wanted to go sakae sushi in parkway to celebrate joachim's birthday which actually falls on sunday, also mother's day.. haha, maybe there's some relation.. anyway, we went there but found out that the buffet was only at 3... time then was 12. Kinda feeling hungry. Luckily for us, there was another japanese restaurant in the vicinity, suki sushi. So we when there.. buffet lunch started at 12, good.. price was a few dollars more den the 3.00pm price at sakae, not much choice as i had already promised joachim to treat him at a jap restaurant.. haha. So he finally came and we proceeded upstairs, not crowded, 8 ppl in all namely the twins, ivan, jeremy, don, jonathan, joachim and me. They offered us two tables. So we sat down and when the other table had settled down, the people at my table was already starting to reach for the plates on the conveyor belt.. haha, what greedy people we have! So we eat and eat and eat, order and order and order, take and take and take.. Haha, not bad for the price.. eat all u want.. Eat until full liao, den start sipping green tea, kinda helps u digest, anyway, after sipping 4 cups of green tea, round two.. haha. Had lots of fun talking crap and catching up..Pity to those who couldn't make it.. Anyway, just as we were abt to leave, we looked at the converyor belt, and guess what we saw.. there was this sushi think with the food cover just like the others, but this one had a large housefly in it.. gross.. missed it lah, those who saw didn't wanna take.. so we waited and waited and waited.. Finally, the thing came back, the fly was still there, we took it and gave it to the waitress.. i'm sure the whole restaurant knew what was happening as st pats people aren't exactly very quiet.. So we left, settled the big payment and went to parkway.. So we walk and walk and walk and walk, look and look and look and look. Den the twins decided to go home. Slowly all started to go home, den my turn also. Not bad a day eh.. haha Kenneth blogged at 9:25 PM. Tuesday, May 03, 2005

Well, kinda makes me panic becos i haven't really been scoring really well for this subject. Its usually not that i didn't study but due to me not aquiring the correct skills in writing my answers.. Hope that this time it would change.. Good luck to everyone for their common tests and mid years. God Bless Kenneth blogged at 1:13 PM. |
