Hi to all expecting this post from Langkawi, it seems that the wireless connection here at my residence decided to work tonight so here I am blogging. As some of you might already know, i went to the four seasons resort for the first time on Monday. The HR training manager had arranged for us to meet up with the Management of the hotel which included the Directors of the various departments and also the Resort Manager. Its was quite a lot of people to meet for one day definitely. In the end, we kinda overshot especially with the orientation at the restaurants. You see, there's specific timings whereby there's a bus shuttle that brings us from the resort back to our accommodation and apparently, we missed the 6.15pm one and the next one was at 7.45pm. Well, 6.30pm to 7.45pm's no joke especially when you have absolutely nothing to do. Just as we we were waiting at the car park, one of our colleague at the restaurant asked if we would have a lift back as he was driving. Thats was really unexpected. So we gladly took his offer and went off. His name was Tengku but said that we could call him Matt. Matt had a rather distinct American slang (and i say slang, not accent). Apparently, he lived in Malaysia all his life and was born in Pahang. But somehow, he went to an international school there. Well, finally someone that i could talk to being myself. You see, most of the people here barely speak English. This is especially so for our neighbourhood where the only people that we could talk to were the chinese and we used Mandarin. Even so, some of them could only speak Cantonese. Anyway, we went for dinner with Matt and he was telling us more about the other eating places near where we live. My second day today at four seasons was at the Telephone Call Centre. Didn't answer any calls yet but learnt quite a bit about the departement. Apparently even a 90 'room' resort could also have its peak hours whereby 4 operators a day are not enough. 2 weeks with the operators and then another 2 with the reservations. Wish me luck.
